Statistics — residence decisions by financial year

INZ report 'Statistics - residence decisions by financial year' (prepared 7 Sep 2026, decisions 31 Jul 2016 to 31 Aug 2026), 98 pages. pp. 2-9: resident visa applications and people decided (approved, declined, total) by application criteria and financial year 2016/17-2026/27 plus a period total; pp. 10-11: all criteria by decision; pp. 12-13: current financial year by month (2026-07, 2026-08); pp. 14-37: all criteria by nationality and year; pp. 38-97: by nationality and application substream (applications, then people), each printed twice (alphabetical and sorted by size). In scope and extracted: the Investor 1, Investor 2, Active Investor Plus and Active Investor Plus (Growth or Balanced) rows of the criteria tables (every year, approved/declined/total, applications and people, the period totals and the two months), and the 'Investor Category' column of the nationality tables (Investor 1, 2 and AIP combined; its total 3,538 applications / 11,449 people equals the sum of the four criteria rows). Rows already in the data (110) were not repeated. Not rowed: the duplicate sorted copies (pp. 68-97, checked identical) and the month-table total column (equal to FY2026/27). Out of scope: all other visa criteria and the all-criteria nationality tables. All tables add up (approved + declined = total; years sum to period totals; nationality rows sum to the printed totals). Pass extract-zeros-b added 432 rows of value 0 for cells printed as 0: the AIP years before each setting existed in the applications criteria table (pre-2025 settings 2016/17-2021/22; Growth or Balanced 2016/17-2023/24), and the Investor Category cells (approved, declined, total) of every nationality with no Investor Category decisions in the applications nationality tables (pp. 39-52). The people tables (criteria pp. 6-7, months p. 13, nationality pp. 54-67) leave such cells blank instead of printing 0; blank there means no decisions (the rows add up with blanks read as none) and blanks are not stored. With the zeros all tables still add up.
