What the document holds

Amphora Media fact-check (14 May 2025) of the Maltese government's claim that EUR 1.4 billion from the IIP was 'invested in the people': government press-release project list, 70/30 NDSF/Consolidated Fund split, NDSF revenues EUR 619m to 2022 with EUR 130m allocated to social projects, July 2024 parliamentary figures (EUR 131m committed, EUR 41,847,629 paid; social housing EUR 60m pledged, just under EUR 7.7m used, about 13%), 550 housing units pledged in 2019, applicant donations EUR 6,112,648 across 1,061 donations, EUR 339m property purchases and EUR 158m rentals. This pass added the number of applicant donations (1,061), the press-release project allocations, the EUR 130m and EUR 131m commitments, the EUR 60m social-housing pledge and the article's ratios (13% disbursed; less than 10% of EUR 1.4bn) under two proposed indicators. Not recorded: the Puttinu Cares charity event's public donations (over EUR 3m in 2024 and 2025; not programme money) and fractions in words ('about one-fifth', 'one-third').
