What the document holds

Mauritius Citizenship Act consolidated text (to 2003): acquisition by registration and naturalisation, loss, dual nationality, regulations (fees may be prescribed, none stated), Commonwealth schedule, dual-nationality oath. In scope: s. 9(3) reduced residence (2 years) for investors, printed as 'not less than 5,000 US dollars' (likely an error for 500,000; both added as terms with notes), s. 9(4) renunciation. No figures on use.

About the document

What it covers Consolidated s. 9 (naturalisation), incl. s. 9(3) reduced residence for investors.

Notes PDF metadata: author 'pmo', created 26 May 2003. Its s. 9(3) reads '5,000 US dollars', which conflicts with the 1999 amending Act (USD 500,000) and is probably a transcription error in the consolidation. Annotations list amendments only up to 1995, so the consolidation may not include the 1999 Act properly. The current official text was not obtained.
