Rwanda's Organic Law on nationality (No. 002/2021.OL, Official Gazette of 28 Jul 2021, 45 pp., trilingual): definitions (majority 18), nationality by origin, acquisition grounds (marriage after 5 years, adoption, national interest, honour, substantial sustainable investment or activities (art. 15, no amount or residence period), residence of 15 years, special skills, immigrants after 25 years, statelessness), powers, publication, oath, certificate within 60 days, rights, revocation, renunciation and recovery, application validity of 3 years, dual nationality (declaration within 3 months), offences and penalties, repeal of the 2008 law, commencement. Earlier pass: art. 15 investment ground (amount unset) and the launch event. This pass added 6 rules: certificate within 60 days and 3-year application validity (apply to investment grants), and as context rows without a programme the 15-year residence and 25-year immigrant periods, the 5-year marriage period and the art. 50 penalty for fraudulent acquisition (FRW 3-5 million). Out of scope and not recorded: renunciation, recovery, dual-nationality procedures and the other offences (not the investment route).
